A Visit to the Old Exhibition
The museum visit was supposed to be quick, but it turned into an unexpected journey through time. At the entrance, we received some brochures and a ticket’s stub with a map of the building. The first room was supposed to display modern art, but instead it showed antique pieces from the 18th century. A guide explained that the oval sculpture in the middle is supposed to represent balance and life. One section was dedicated to cotton production and its impact on fashion. Visitors are supposed to enjoy the textures and styles of both shiny and matte fabrics. In the middle of the textile room, there was a mannequin wearing an old fashion dress with a metal corset. The lighting system was supposed to highlight the dress, but failed during the tour. Despite the situation, the group manages to capture great photos and moments. A model train placed in a rectangular case reminded many of their childhood. The final stop is supposed to show how safety in factories has evolved. A broken glass cabinet, ironically part of the safety exhibit, made us laugh. This unexpected situation reminded us that even history has its sense of humor.
