BE SUPPOSED TO

"Be supposed to" is used to express an expectation, obligation, or something that is meant to happen. It’s commonly used when something is expected to happen according to rules, norms, plans, or beliefs.

Be supposed to

It is used to indicate that someone should do something according to a rule, expectation, or agreement.

Estructura:

am / is / are + supposed to + base verb

Ejemplos:

1. I am supposed to clean the cotton jacket.
     Se supone que debo limpiar la chaqueta de algodón.

2. He is supposed to fix that antique mirror.
     Se supone que él debe arreglar ese espejo antiguo.

3. They are supposed to polish the shiny floor.
     Se supone que deben pulir el suelo brillante.

Be not supposed to

It is used to express that something should not be done or is not allowed, according to rules or expectations.

Estructura:

am / is / are + not supposed to + base verb

Ejemplos:

1. She is not supposed to paint that matte wall.
     Se supone que ella no debe pintar esa pared mate.

2. We are not supposed to touch the metal sculpture.
     Se supone que no debemos tocar la escultura de metal.

3. You are not supposed to wear old fashion clothes to the event.
     Se supone que no debes usar ropa de antaño para el evento.

Ejercicio:

Ayude al teacher a traducir al inglés las siguientes oraciones:

1. Se supone que él debe cargar esa lámpara de modelo.

2. Se supone que no debemos mover el cuadro ovalado.

3. Se supone que debo arreglar la mesa rectangular.
