The Convergence: The Origin of the Spectre Unit
General Context
After a chain of catastrophic events—regional nuclear wars, global economic collapse, and the rise of technocratic militias—central governments have either ceased to exist or are puppets of arms corporations. In this chaos, what remains of the Transnational Security Command (TSC) creates clandestine mobile units for critical missions in lawless zones.
These units answer to no flag. They obey only basic principles: protect civilians, recover key technology, and prevent the chaos from spreading. One such unit is Spectre, made up of soldiers with dark pasts and broken loyalties.
Key Event: The Phantom Mission in Kazakhstan
Three years ago, before the total collapse, a secret scientific base was detected in the Kazakh desert, where a military corporation was experimenting with weaponized artificial intelligence. The TSC needed to infiltrate, but couldn't use conventional troops. Thus was born Operation Ghostlight, and with it, the convergence of Team Specter.
How They Meet
Jack Callahan (USA)
He was assigned to lead the operation because of his clean record in the shadows. Although he was already under surveillance for disobeying orders, the CST needed him: no one led infiltration operations like him. This mission was his redemption... or his death.
Elijah Kane (Australia)
He was already working with CST as a cyber defense contractor. He was the first to intercept anomalous signals on the secret base's network. When he was sent into the field, he demanded to be under Jack's command, with whom he had worked during an attack on a nuclear facility in Iran. He trusts him more than any general.
Amina N'Dour (Senegal)
She was on a separate operation as a support sniper in Afghanistan. Jack had saved her when her squad was ambushed by automated drones. When CST recruited her for "Ghostlight," she agreed on one condition: to work with Callahan again.
Anya Sokolov (Russia)
She infiltrated the Kazakh base's medical sector, posing as a scientist to leak information to CST. When she was discovered and imprisoned, Jack and his team rescued her during the raid. Afterward, she refused to return to Russia, accusing her superiors of treason. She joined the squadron as a combat medic and disarmament specialist.
Viktor Novik (Ukraine)
He was hired as an external technician to repair the base's defense systems. Unaware he was working for a group experimenting with extermination AI, he sabotaged the system after discovering the truth. Locked inside the complex, Jack saved him during the final escape. In gratitude, he joined the squadron without asking for anything in return.
Why do they stay together?
After the success (and high cost) of Operation Ghostlight—which ended with the destruction of the base but also the revelation that the CST knew more than it was letting on—the team was officially presumed dead. Taking advantage of this anonymity, Jack decided to remain outside the control of any official organization. The others followed him, not out of loyalty to a cause, but because trusting others had become a luxury… and they had already gone through hell together.
Since then, they are Specter, a shadow without a flag, operating on their own in a world where there are no good or bad guys… only decisions.
